Capital of Culture

As most of us know Liverpool has been granted the status of "European Capital of Culture 2008". This will bring a lot of business to the city and the surrounding areas including Southport.

Local businesses and hotels will benefit greatly from Liverpools success, and Southport being only 20 miles from the city stands to increase tourism as a direct result.

Shops, hotels and many other local businesses including Central Cabs recognise the importance of this massive upcoming event in Liverpool, and are preparing their services accordingly.

One of the major events coinciding with "Capital of Culture" is the 136th Open Golf Championship being hosted at Royal Birkdale from 17th - 20th July 2008. This is the 9th time Royal Birkdale has hosted the championship since it started in 1860.
